Police Department
 
The Barre City Police Department has 45 employees including Police Chief Trevor Whipple, 3 sergeants, 5 corporals, 9 patrolmen, 6 dispatchers, 1 meter enforcement officer, 17 reserve officers and 3 reserve dispatchers. The Department also has a School Resource Officer program which officially began on January 3, 2000. This is a nationwide program and is currently partially funded by a federal "COPS in schools" grant. The program places a uniformed police officer within the school system on a full-time basis. The City's dispatch center is staffed with 6 full-time dispatchers and 5 reserve dispatchers. It's manned 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The Center dispatches for the following departments: Barre City Police Department, Barre City Fire and Ambulance, Barre Town Police Department, Barre Town Fire Department, Barre Town EMS, Corinth Fire Department, Corinth Topsham Fast Squad, Tri-Village Fire Department, Washington Fire Department, Williamstown Ambulance, and Williamstown Fire Department. The City's Police Department also sponsors a D.A.R.E. & Juvenile Officer program and a K-9 unit consisting of 3 dogs, Jackson, Max and Baron with their handlers.
