Welcome to Bear Pond Books, Montpelier's independent bookstore for thirty years. We are located within easy walking distance of the Statehouse in Vermont's Capital City. Bear Pond Books is a vibrant community bookstore that offers a wide selection of books for readers of all ages, and regular AUTHOR EVENTS that are free and open to the public. Come in and walk our creaky wooden floors, sit among the high book stacks, talk with our caring, relaxed and well-read staff. And we are dog friendly--we'll give your dog a pat and a biscuit.

Bear Pond Books is committed to bringing events by local, regional and national authors to the Montpelier community. The majority of our readings happen on Tuesday evenings at 7PM with occasional children's readings on Saturdays in the children's room. We are busy scheduling into 2004 with enough variety already to appeal to a wide audience of readers. Authors often comment on how much they enjoy reading to an audience in a space surrounded by books. Come hear their talented voices.
