Philosophy:  Orchard Valley School is dedicated to the principles of Waldorf education, honoring the individuality and creativity of each child. The children and faculty of OVS make full use of the outdoors for study, play, and natural discovery. The natural setting of both campus locations reinforces the curriculum in fostering a genuine reverence for the earth. The rich academic and artistic curriculum – based on an understanding of the child’s needs at each stage of development, from the early years through young adulthood – is now practiced in nearly 900 schools worldwide.
  The visual and performing arts, including sculpting, painting, drawing, drama, and music, form an integral part of the academic curriculum. Waldorf education seeks to address the needs of the whole child by bringing a joyful, meaningful, and living education to the children in order to develop their body, mind, and spirit. We wish to give children strength for life by honoring and nurturing their sense of reverence and wonder. We work to foster in each child revelations of their own innate wisdom while teaching them practical skills and academic capacities.
