Self-guided Tours and Narrated Tours SELF-GUIDED TOURS Self-guided quarry tours are available May 1 - October 31 (closed July 4), Monday - Saturday 8:30 - 5:00, Sunday Noon - 5:00. Special fall foliage hours include Sundays, 8:30-5:30 p.m. as well. Yes, they have a video. It's a great place to start! The video explains the quarrying and manufacturing processes. After the video, you will want to check out the displays in the Visitors Center and then walk to the Historic (inactive) Rock of Ages Quarry, located behind the Visitors Center. The walkway to the quarry features a snack bar and picnic area. See the mammoth waste piles of granite left from the turn of the century. Look into the quarry and also view the wooden derricks (cranes) once used to lift titan blocks from the quarry depths.
Our Manufacturing Plant is also available for self-guided tours. Open year round, Monday - Friday, 8:00-3:30 except holidays and vacation periods. NARRATED TOURS
Narrated quarry tours consist of an exciting thirty-minute shuttle ride to a 500 foot-deep, 50 acre, active quarry. Your friendly guide will explain the quarrying process. From the platform, you'll watch as skilled quarriers far below cut granite from the massive quarry face. Narrated quarry tours are available June - mid-October, Monday - Friday, 9:15 - 3:00.
